Garage Shelving Builds Real Value

The garage is one of the least utilized areas of the average home. Many households use their garage for storage only, whether that is for their vehicles or some extra boxes. By including garage shelving, more space in the garage can be utilized and it can become a true working area for a number of different hobbies.

Where Can Garage Shelving Be Installed?

Garage shelves can go anywhere there is a valid anchor point. This may include:

  • wall studs,
  • ceiling supports, or
  • bolted to the floor.

Many portable shelving units can be installed like a bookshelf and stand independently. These typically have weight limits to them, however, so be conscious of what items you choose to store on affordable, portable shelving.

Garage Shelving Can Give You 100 Square Feet of Storage Space

One of the easiest ways to install garage shelving is to use mounted anchors with adjustable shelf supports. Just affix the anchors into the wall studs and then attach the moveable supports for the shelving in your preferred location.

For shelving that is being installed into concrete, brick, or cinderblock, a lead anchor will need to be installed first. Drill out a hole with the appropriate drill bit and then install the anchor. From there, just attach the shelving mounts as indicated.

Garage shelves can add a lot of additional square footage for storage space. They can install virtually anywhere, even hang from the ceiling with bracket supports, and can also be portable and affordable. That way every garage can become a useful space once again.
